Aims and Objectives

To provide for the better administration and governance of Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments situated in the State of Odisha as per the provisions of Orissa Hindu Religious Endowments Act, 1951 and Orissa Hindu Religious Endowments Rules, 1959 (hereinafter called O.H.R.E. Act and Rules). 

Presently, 16,785 numbers of Temples and 459 Maths are being indexed and controlled through the Department. Besides that, there are 41 numbers of Debottars (i.e, religious institutions under the direct control of the State.) wherein local Revenue officers like Sub-collector and Tahasildar exercise their powers  as the Executive officers under the supervision of the collector who general control of the commissioner of Endowments
